ATLANTA, July 15, 2002 –
MeasureUp, Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Dice Inc., (Nasdaq: DICE),
plans to develop and deliver the acclaimed HIPAA Academy practice tests
over its proprietary testing engine. The HIPAA Academy selected
MeasureUp as the exclusive provider of HIPAA Academy certification
preparation tests.
The HIPAA Academy provides training and certification preparation for
technology professionals on the Health Insurance Portability &
Accountability Act. This act, passed by Congress in 1996, requires
healthcare related organizations and small businesses to meet specific
privacy and security standards by April 2003 and 2004 (tentatively),
respectively.
"The health care industry is looking to be in compliance with the federal
HIPAA legislation. HIPAA implementation teams require individuals to
be knowledgeable about the HIPAA legislative requirements and solution
options," said Allen Nguyen, President of the HIPAA Academy. "Our
focus is on the development of HIPAA knowledge so that implementation team
members can be productive. We are excited about the relationship
with MeasureUp to further enable individuals to test their knowledge of
HIPAA prior to taking the exams at Prometric centers nationwide."
The HIPAA Academy selected MeasureUp as the sole provider of practice
tests as a result of MeasureUp’s high quality and testing standards.
MeasureUp also provides practice tests for HIPAA Academy partners,
including the vendor-neutral Security Certified Professional (SCP) exams.
“The HIPAA training and practice tests will enable technology
professionals in healthcare related fields to prepare for HIPAA
compliance,” noted Kevin Brice, President and General Manager of MeasureUp.
“This type of vendor-neutral certification prepares the technology
industry to solve real-world issues that affect business as we know it.”
Business professionals in the health care and insurance industries as well
as IT professionals would find the HIPAA Academy programs as the critical
first step for acquiring HIPAA knowledge and skills to participate as
valuable members of HIPAA compliance teams within organizations.
The HIPAA Professional exam validates knowledge and skills in the core
areas of HIPAA Administrative Simplification legislation, Transactions and
Code Sets Requirements, Privacy Requirements and Security Requirements.
The HIPAA Administrator exam validates knowledge and skills of end users
that are responsible for delivery and support of health care services and
administration.
